Attending our friend's wedding at 유성 컨벤션 웨딩홀.

One of the main objectives of this trip was also to attend Sungsoo's close friend's wedding. Having went through the process, I kind of know what to expect to experience. Like most Korean weddings, it was held in a wedding hall which a few other couples also went through similar "factory" style process. Each couple were given an hour to conduct the walk-in, speech, max 1-2 performance, photo taking. The couple would then have to leave the room and proceed to another private room for the tea ceremony which was attended by only immediate family and relatives. The other guests tend proceeded to the shared dining area which the guests from different wedding couples co-shared the buffet spread.

One other trend that is getting more and more common these days is to hold the ceremony without an actual solemnizer. The intend is to make the ceremony less formal. The wedding couple could choose to make their own drafted speech instead of the solemnizer speaking most of the time.

The bride and groom would then proceed to pay their respect to their parents respectively. After the ceremony ended and the photo-taking, the guests then proceeded for their buffet lunch.

I couldn't eat much this time round as a lot of the food are not cooked, e.g. fermented crabs, sashimi and sushi etc... Being preggy just have to play on the safe side.

I asked my mother-in-law (어머님) after she attending our Singapore wedding on which type of wedding style she enjoyed more. She mentioned Korean weddings are generally too formal and there aren't enough time to bond with the family and friends.

On our way home, we went through a park which is along a river. There is where I saw 2 magpies (喜鹊) . Lucky day. Happy Day.

Nami Island (남이섬)

Sungsoo and I took a train down to Seoul to meet my bro-in-law, after which we started our roadtrip towards the jetty to take a ferry to Nami Island. We stopped by a restaurant along the way and had dakgalbi.

Nami island, being a touristy place, was jammed packed with people. It took us about 20 minutes of queuing before we managed to get up the ferry. And in all the photos, you will expect many photo bombers. As it was already the 3rd week of October, the weather was about 15-20dC and we witnessed the transition of seasons. At Nami Island, we were able to see trees that are partially Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. Really Beautiful. My bro-in-law Ted was our photographer of the day, helping us take some really good baby bump photos.

A day visit to the country-side near Boeun

To fulfill my little wish to see the country side and plucking fruits, my parents-in-law suggested us to go visit my mil's sister's home which is near Boeun. The journey from Daejeon to the aunt's place is about 1 hour drive away. Time did not feel that long as we sang and hummed to the Korean oldies music.

When we arrived, uncle just harvested a batch of the rice and he was busy with the milling process to remove the rice husk. We took our chance to take a picture with the tractor.

His uncle used to be an engineer but because he was passed down a large piece of land and he wanted to make good use of it, he decided to do this full time, of course he hired some people to helped out.

Look at the vast field of land behind us... makes me love yellow even more. Air is so fresh and "earthy". There are hardly any sound except the occasional vehicles passing by and welcoming buzz from the carefree dragonflies. Besides eating fresh dates, I also attempted to pluck the persimmons.

On our way back, we passed by a carnival. The people were celebrating dates festival. Harvesting red dates can be a huge thing and worth celebrating. There is even a bulls fighting arena.

Well, an apple lover who happens to also be a "city bumpkin" needs to take photo with it. (아버님 stopped the car in the middle of the way back just to let me take this photo. ^^)
